Payment Systems: Data Security

Abstract:

Improving payments security is a critical issue for all retailers, including truckstop and travel plaza operators.  Enhanced security should be a shared responsibility among all players in the payments ecosystem – retailers, card companies, and banks.  The card companies and banks, however, have devoted their efforts not to improving security, but to shifting liability for fraud onto retailers.  NATSO urges Congress to press card networks, banks, and credit unions to implement the most secure payment system technology, including Chip-and-PIN.
