For business owners, a high level of uncertainty surrounds the millennial generation. Among the many myths surrounding millennials are the misconceptions that they feel entitled, require hand-holding and tend to be job hoppers. New research from The Gallup Organization, however, shows that millennials really aren’t that different from previous generations.

During The NATSO Show 2016 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Nate Dvorak, a consultant at Gallup, will share the organization’s latest research that is based on feedback from 25 million employees over the past five years to give truckstop and travel plaza operators insight into this crucial employee base.

Millennials currently make up about 38 percent of the U.S. workforce, and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that will grow to 50 percent in the next five years. This means employers must tap into millennials’ talent.

During his keynote address, Dvorak will dig into the true attributes of millennials, what matters to them, how to recruit them and how employers can engage them in the workplace. He also will outline the distinct differences that exist between millennials and older workers and share real-life examples to help employers navigate those differences.

Dvorak’s session, which begins at 8 a.m. on Feb. 24, is one of several that take place during the show to help operators increase their industry knowledge, gain business intelligence and see new products. For the full lineup of show speakers and educational sessions, visit www.natsoshow.org.
