09-19-2024WattEV is taking a multi-pronged approach to help advance the electrification of heavy-duty vehicles, offering truck-as-a-service equipment and developing electric truck charging infrastructure. The company has received millions of dollars in grants to build out charging infrastructure and has joined NATSO to learn more about the industry. NATSO’s Christine Schoessler, chief operating officer, and Darren Schulte, vice president of membership, along with several NATSO travel center members, recently traveled to WattEV’s headquarters in California to connect with the company’s leadership.
09-10-2024Greg Priddy, a senior fellow for the Middle East at the Center for the National Interest, is an expert on political risk and global energy markets. He will also be a speaker at the Fast Forward Focus, NATSO and the NATSO Foundation’s fall meeting, October 29-30 at the Grand Hyatt DFW.
During an executive briefing, Priddy will share an outlook for petroleum supply, addressing key issues related to political instability, conflicts, and sanctions in major oil-producing regions that can disrupt supply chains and lead to uncertainty in the oil market.
Priddy’s work in energy started with him serving as a contractor for the U.S. Energy Information Administration at the U.S. Department of Energy from 1999 to 2006. His work centered on analysis of oil market disruption scenarios, including some of the U.S. government’s scenario planning after 9/11 and in the run-up to the Iraq War in 2003.

“We believe three technologies are needed to reach net zero: Battery electric, fuel cell electric and the combustion engine running on renewable fuels,” said Roger Alm, president of Volvo Trucks. While speaking during ACT Expo, Alm said Volvo Trucks will only produce zero-emission trucks beginning in 2040.

At the same time, truck stop and travel center operators must closely monitor their budgets, fuel prices and inventory.
“One of the most important things to understand is how fuel is priced. There are several pricing mechanisms, including the spot market. In a traditional procurement perspective, that means I don’t necessarily have an agreed-to price,” Randy Grizzle, director of sales and marketing for TACenergy said. “I needed it today. I bought it today.” However, in commercial fueling, there are one of two indices that have spot in their name, which can create confusion, Grizzle said.
