It’s important to ensure that the truck stop and travel center perspective is represented in federal policy conversations. NATSO PAC supports candidates who promote policies that improve the business climate in which our members operate.

NATSO PAC pools campaign contributions from NATSO members and other friends of the travel center and off-highway fuel retailing industry and distributes those funds to candidates running for public office. 

A political action committee is a fund that accepts contributions from members of an organization to be spent on certain permissible political activity, typically by financially supporting the election campaigns of candidates aligned with the PAC’s policy priorities. Contributions are regulated by the Federal Election Commission and subject to annual limits. The FEC requires public disclosure about PAC activity. Corporate donations to PACs are prohibited by federal law.

NATSO PAC is a pragmatic PAC that was founded to educate federal candidates on the travel center and off-highway fuel retailing industry. NATSO PAC is bipartisan and independent. NATSO PAC supports bipartisan Congressional candidates who demonstrate a commitment to issues of importance to industry and who are consistent with NATSO’s core values. In practice, this means that most NATSO PAC disbursements are made to candidates who are incumbent Members of Congress and service on Congressional committees with jurisdiction over our issues.

There are strict rules governing the way political contributions are collected and distributed and NATSO follows both the letter and the spirit of federal campaign finance law. Contributions to NATSO PAC will be used in connection with federal elections, are subject to an annual limit of $5,000 per individual and are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. All contributions must be from personal funds and may not be reimbursed or paid by any other person or entity. Contributions from foreign nationals are prohibited. Contributions from federal contractors, and the treasury funds of corporations, labor unions, and national banks are prohibited. Contributions to NATSO PAC are for political purposes, participation is completely voluntary, and you have the right to refuse to contribute without reprisal.
