New Presidential Administration’s Impact on the Truckstop Industry Covered During The NATSO Show
A new presidential administration and Congress can bring vast changes to the business community and the economy. As 2017 gets underway, the new President will issue executive orders, start the confirmation process for Cabinet secretaries and set the tone for key political issues, many of which are relevant to the travel plaza industry.
During The NATSO Show 2017, scheduled to be held Jan. 21-24 in Savannah, Ga., David Fialkov, NATSO’s vice president of government affairs, will share his insight on what political changes in Washington will mean for business owners, particularly truckstop and travel plaza operators. Fialkov will discuss the national political environment as the new President takes office, as well as take a “deep dive” look at the industry issues that will be on the table in 2017, including tax reform, highway funding, and fuel, food and labor regulations.
“The NATSO Show 2017 starts the day after the new President will be sworn into office,” Fialkov said. “It will be an exciting, uncertain time no matter who wins the election and no matter which political parties control the House and Senate. The timing really couldn’t be better in terms of ensuring that attendees at The NATSO Show understand and can be prepared for new rules of the road governing their businesses.”
Having represented fuel retailers and the convenience store industry in Washington, D.C., for seven years, Fialkov brings an understanding of not only the business environment and legal issues confronting travel plazas, but also a sharp grasp of federal policymakers’ political and policy agendas.
