AMBEST Donates $5,000 to Support the NATSO Foundation’s Bill and Carolyn Moon Scholarship Program

/

AMBEST, a member-owned network of independent truck stops, has generously donated $5,000 to support the NATSO Foundation’s Bill and Carolyn Moon Scholarship program. The contribution will fully fund one of the five, $5,000 scholarships the NATSO Foundation will award this year.

“Exceptional service is the hallmark of AMBEST members. Our NATSO Foundation scholarship gift is a way to honor the dedicated employees who bring passion and personalized service to our industry,” said Chuck Ryan, president and CEO of AMBEST. “Their commitment is what makes AMBEST members shine, and we are proud to recognize their hard work and excellence.”

Each year, the NATSO Foundation awards $25,000 in scholarships to deserving students with ties to the truck stop and travel center industry to help them pursue post-secondary education. Donations are critical to maintaining this long-standing tradition, and donors can pledge their support year-round.

“We are incredibly grateful for AMBEST’s generous contribution,” said Amy Toner, executive director of the NATSO Foundation. “Their donation ensures we can continue changing the lives of students connected to the truck stop and travel center industry by supporting their education.”

The Bill and Carolyn Moon Scholarship is named in honor of Bill and Carolyn Moon, who founded the Iowa 80 Group and launched the scholarship program. It has been providing much-needed and deserved assistance to industry students for more than 30 years, awarding more than $250,000 in scholarships to date.

The scholarship is open to truck stop and travel center owners and employees, their families, and their legal dependents pursuing undergraduate, graduate or vocational education. Applications are now open, and students interested in applying can apply here. The deadline for submissions is May 1, 2025. Applicants are judged by an independent review with selections based on academic merit, financial need, community activities and a short essay.
