New Refresh Travel Plaza Location Offers EV Charging and New Indian Quick-Serve Concept

Refresh Travel Plazas recently opened the first of several new locations. The location, in Madera, California, was designed to meet the changing needs of the trucking industry and the country. The project is headed by Ravinder Grewal and Sachin Malik.

“We are acutely aware of the current and future changes within the travel industry and the increasing need for trucks as a means of transporting goods,” said Arjun Khosa, spokesperson for the location. “The Refresh Travel Plaza in Madera will address these issues while creating jobs and providing valuable services in the area.”

Initially, the location features 15 Tesla Supercharger ports, and it was designed to allow installation of additional EV chargers. “We also intend to install electric truck chargers as soon as there is more clarity on prevailing standards and technologies,” Khosa said.

The location has extensive food offerings, including Pizza Hut, KFC, Fatburger, Yogurtland, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Cinnabon, Jamba Juice and Curry Naan Stop., a new Indian quick-service-dining experience developed by Ravinder Grewal and his team. “The food options were chosen to provide customers with a wide range of options, without overlapping in the type of cuisine offered,” Khosa said.

Curry Naan Stop features modern and authentic Indian cuisine, including favorites such as chicken tikka masala and daal makhni, as well as some items that may be new to most palates, but familiar to the significant number of Indian truck drivers who operate in the area.

“The menu includes several vegetarian options as well as a number of breakfast dishes,” Khosa said. “We have developed standardized operating procedures covering the menu, pricing, branding, training and equipment that will be consistently utilized at this and all future Curry Naan Stop locations. The travel center will be the first location to feature this exciting new QSR.”

The location also has six truck fueling lanes, a truck driver lounge area with laundry, showers and Wi-Fi, and a convenience store with a special section for trucker items. “These include but are not limited to hats, jackets, tools, portage bags, coolers, cabin organizers, etc.,” Khosa said.

Additional Refresh Travel Plaza locations will be opened in the coming months in Bakersfield, California, Calexico, California, San Juan Bautista, California, and Wheatley, Arkansas.
