Get-n-Go in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is a great example of the new breed of travel center. It has a robust grab-and-go-food program and an exceptional looking store but features limited parking and fuel islands. We are seeing more and more locations like this, and Get-n-Go is a beautiful location that is attracting professional drivers, local workers and travelers, and racking up gallons.
Customers flow in and out easily, which is important in our industry as travelers and professional drivers alike want to have easy access. Inside, the store is departmentalized really well.
The signage is clear, easy to read and well lit.
There are a lot of focal points that make it easy to shop and create a very modern look.
The location has a robust grab-and-go program that includes beautiful displays full of sandwiches, salads and fruit.
There are hot dogs, a roller grill program and hot pizzas.
Customers can also select something from a wide variety of shelf-stable microwavable foods that they can heat up on site or take with them.
There are several places for customers to sit and enjoy their food selections.
I especially like the outdoor seating with umbrellas. Not only is it inviting, it has helped change the demographics.
Get-n-Go understands their customers are daily people and local haulers, such as cement trucks and landscaping trucks, and does a good job of reaching out to that group.
The location has even added a fuel lane dedicated to local customers.
The amenities and offerings all help draw in customers, but one of the best things about Get-n-Go is the service. It is outstanding, and in this day, you have to have exceptional service to survive.
/// Did you know most weeks you can find me visiting a NATSO member truckstop location, spending three to four days, using my merchandising and operations expertise to help them grow their business?
