NATSO Urges President to Support Policies That Ensure Stable, Efficient Fuels Marketplace

/

NATSO on Dec. 4 joined organizations representing oil refiners, ethanol producers, fuel marketers and convenience store retailers in asking President Trump to support long-term legislative policies that would help ensure a stable, efficient fuels marketplace.

In a letter to President Donald Trump, NATSO and industry stakeholders representing the entire fuel supply chain asked the President to support the year-round, nationwide sale of gasoline containing 15 percent ethanol as well as to support legislative action to reform the Small Refinery Exemption program.

The letter, which was signed by NATSO, SIGMA, NACS, the American Petroleum Institute, Growth Energy, and the Renewable Fuels Association, expresses unified support for consumers’ ability to access higher ethanol blends all year in all parts of the country. Market volatility and affordability concerns are best mitigated through consumer-oriented fuel policies that are designed to lower prices at the pump.

“The absence of nationwide E15 and the administration of the SRE program present varying challenges for our industries,” the organizations wrote. “They both impact investment and compliance planning, blending decisions, and the stability of national fuel supply chains. Addressing these two issues through clear legislation would provide a more coherent and durable policy foundation, reduce volatility, and enhance confidence for all participants in the transportation fuel sector.”
