As an advocacy organization comprised of dedicated and engaged truck stops, travel centers, and transportation energy providers, NATSO works to inform lawmakers, guide decision-making, and generate support for policies on the critical issues that affect the fuel retailing environment at the national level.

Since 1960, NATSO has served as the voice of the industry before Congress, regulatory agencies, and the federal courts. NATSO is the only trade association representing the truck stop and travel center industry.

NATSO advocates on key federal legislative and regulatory issues to shape policies that directly influence the business environment in which its members operate. NATSO champions issues on behalf of more than 7,000 truck stops and travel centers, with a primary focus on climate, energy, and highway and transportation policy. NATSO advocates on issues that influence daily business operations, including labor, data security, payment systems, and taxes.

NATSO empowers the industry to be a part of the legislative process. NATSO hosts an annual Day on Capitol Hill, during which members travel to Washington, D.C., to meet with their lawmakers and regulators to personally engage with key decision-makers on policies affecting their business.
