Stopping in at Trails Travel Center in Albert Lea, Minnesota, is an experience. From the location’s Viking theme to the exceptional merchandise, Trails has an intimate and independent flair that makes it memorable. The thoughtful, little touches throughout the travel center draw people in and make them want to spend time inside.
The location’s unique offerings even garnered Trails Travel Center a spot on the Travel Channel’s list of the coolest rest stops and gas stations around the world and a feature article in the Albert Lea Tribune.
Trails Travel Center, which is branded Petro, is owned by Rocky Trail, who started the location with his father, Bernard Trail. The pair bought East Side Truck Stop in the early 1980s, and the current facility was built in 1998. Today it is managed by Dustin Trail, Rocky’s son
One of the main focal points at the location is the rotisserie, which features chickens cooking over a wood-burning fire. It is a beautiful sight to see, especially when visiting during a cold Minnesota winter.
The fudge counter features homemade fudge that can satisfy any sweet tooth.
The location has a robust grab-and-go offering and unbelievable meats and cheeses. It also features a full-service restaurant, Pizza Hut, Cold Stone and McDonalds.
Trails has 10 showers, laundry service, a movie theater and church services.
The physical location is impressive, and so is the company’s virtual presence. Trails has also focused on its online image, which helps attract customers. You can take a virtual tour of the location on the company’s website. Google Maps features beautiful photos and Trail’s Facebook page features photos, news and glowing reviews. So, stop in and take a look, either in person or online.
