Trend to Watch: Fresh Offerings Add Up to Big Success at Your Truckstop

Those truckstop and travel center operators who have embraced food as part of their conversion rate, experience and store environment improvement plan are really knocking it out of the park. When this is done in conjunction with superior service, amazing restrooms, and well laid out and designed stores and then topped off with great speed of service, you may indeed have an unbeatable travel center.

We often hear how other folks in Europe and in other retail operations stateside are doing it so much better than we are. It may be that they are embracing it better and maybe have a better strategy and tactics then many of us have, but it is not because they are offering food products that we are not.

Sushi, fresh juices, smoothies, fresh flowers, poke, handmade sandwiches, fresh sandwiches, fresh fruits and vegetables, salads, cool beers, different wines, vegan salads and foods, and cheeses are among the fantastic offerings I see in fresh food programs at travel centers consistently in my travels.

So, yes, it looks like we are indeed are doing exactly what the trends are subscribing. Maybe we only need a little inspiration to ensure that our customers know that we indeed are embracing this trend. Maybe all we need is to develop a strategy around fresh food and the proper tactics to support it.

I gathered several photos during my travels that I think can inspire NATSO members. So, enjoy the inspirations. And, by the way, mind the gap!
