Employees and customers at The Willkomm Companies’ five locations have joined together to raise more than $18,000 to support two local homeless shelters—HALO of Racine and Shalom Center of Kenosha. This is the seventh year Willkomm’s employees and customers have raised money to support the charities.
In November, employees at Willkomm’s locations—Willkomm’s Highlands Petro, Iron Skillet Restaurant and TA Truck Service in Racine; Willkomm’s Washington Ave Mobil & Boss Burger-N-Beef in Racine; Willkomm’s Southport Mobil in Kenosha; Willkomm’s Sports Plaza Mobil in Kenosha; Willkomm’s Oasis Mobil & Dish Restaurant in Oak Creek; and JWI Mobil Distribution Plant in Somers—asked customers to help raise cash for the shelters. Exxon Mobil contributed $1,000 to the cause, and the fundraising concluded on Dec. 2 at the company’s Christmas party. Employees took part in a raffle to help raise more money for the shelters, contributing $565 towards the total.
In grand total, the Willkomm Companies raised $18,036 for these shelters this year. Michael and Jim Willkomm, co-owners of Willkomm Companies, presented Stephanie Martin, HALO community and volunteer programs manager, and Dr. Lynn Biese, executive director of Shalom Center, with a $9,018 check each. Over the last six years, Willkomm Companies have raised a total of $90,740 that went directly to the two shelters.
“We are so incredibly blessed to have such awesome team members that have embraced this challenge to help our community members in need,” Michael Willkomm said.
The Willkomm Companies is a family-owned business that has been serving southeastern Wisconsin for three generations. Since 1946, the Willkomm family has been committed to supporting and strengthening their ongoing relationship within the community.
