The Tennessean Thanks Professional Drivers for Their Essential Services

The Tennessean Travel Stop in Cornersville, Tennessee, dedicated April to professional truck drivers and saluted them as frontline heroes.

“As COVID-19 continues to keep us home we feel it’s important to salute our professional truckers that are keeping our country moving forward during these extremely challenging times,” said Gregory H. Sachs, owner of the Tennessean. “This is our small way of expressing our appreciation to these frontline heroes who put themselves at risk every day.”

During the COVID-19 global pandemic, all truckstops and travel plazas have been deemed essential services. To serve America’s truck drivers and travelers, The Tennessean, which sits 60 miles south of Nashville at exit 22 off Interstate 65, continues to operate 24 hours, 7 days a week.

The location is serving customers while continuing to put safety first. All fueling stations, general store and washroom facilities are being cleaned and sterilized every hour.

As part of the month-long appreciation, all professional truck drivers received an ‘Appreciation Thank You Bag’ filled with a variety of goods donated by The Tennessean’s dedicated vendor partners, including Pepsi, Lipari Foods, DAS Products, Hackney Foods and Exxon.

April 16th professional drivers enjoyed a Tennessean signature favorite ‘POP’s BBQ’ hot meal sponsored by Performance Food Group.  “We’re grateful to all our vendors who answered the call to help our unsung heroes of the highway,” said Tara Polk, general manager at The Tennessean. “Our truckers are our extended family.  Many drivers frequent The Tennessean as many as three days a week.  We’re their extended home and we just want to say thank you.”

The Tennessean Truck & Travel Shop offers drivers hot grab-and-go meals, 150 parking spots, five diesel pumps, a Cat Scale, showers and closed pet park.
