Sometimes it is fun to see what our neighbors to the north are doing. Earlier this year I was able to visit a PetroCanada location just outside Calgary operated by the husband and wife team of Allan and Kathy Neuauter.
The location has a strong female customer base and the location does a very nice job providing merchandise (apparel, high-end gifts and healthy food options) and services, such as their large clean restrooms, that meets that demographics preferences. And for the professional driver there is plenty of parking, a driver lounge, showers, quality restrooms, merchandise and multiple food options that meet their needs.
A fun fact that I always find interesting is that fountain drinks do not sell well in Canada, but Icees and Slushies do. I never saw a fountain drink area in any of the Canadian interstate stores we visited other than U.S. based chain locations.
