Sapp Bros. Travel Center on East 6th Avenue in Columbus, Nebraska will open a compressed natural gas (CNG) station in the fall of 2014. It will facilitate both commercial truck and automobile access.

Stirk Compressed Natural Gas has partnered with Frontier Cooperative to add the heavy-duty public station.

Mike Hoelscher, managing member of Stirk CNG, said, "Our strategy is to continue to build out the compressed natural gas infrastructure, with a focus on large truck access in major transportation corridors. The Columbus, Nebraska location is an important step in completing this goal."

Class 8 fleets in the grain and feed transportation industry will initially use the station. Jeff Ingalls, Frontier Cooperative's energy department manager, said, "Frontier is very excited about this opportunity. We are looking forward to partnering with a CNG pumping station."
