September 1 marks the start of We Card Awareness Month.

We Card, the national non-profit organization focused on ensuring that retailers are educated and trained to reject the sale of age-restricted products to minors, is urging retailers throughout the month to train or re-train employees about the FDA regulations and state and local compliance laws concerning youth access to tobacco and alcohol.

To help retailers with this effort, We Card is providing a variety of participation tools at www.wecard.org.

Wecard.org provides online training resources for employees and managers, a guide to best practices and an ID check-up to help determine how well employees are incorporating their training into real world situations.

We Card also offers educational tools on how to prepare a retail location for FDA and state store inspections as well as summaries of current federal, FDA and state laws.

Additionally, the site offers logos and advertisements that can be downloaded to help promote the program.
