America’s travel centers and truckstops are as diverse as the customers who come through the doors.  The reason over-the-road truck drivers choose your location over the one down the road can be as specific as the American-made fuel you’re offering.

I’ve been in the biodiesel industry for nearly six years and have gotten a lot of great questions from truck drivers about biodiesel.  Here are some of the best industry resources you can share with your customers on why you’ve made the choice to offer biodiesel blends. Print them off and hand them out at the counter when your customers ask about clean burning, homegrown, domestically produced biodiesel.

Power and Performance. Biodiesel offers similar engine performance to diesel fuel and requires no diesel engine modifications. Customers anecdotes’ often highlight improvement in fuel efficiency as biodiesel burns more thoroughly and cleaner than diesel fuel.

OEM Endorsements. One of the most common questions is whether or not the truck’s manufacturer endorses biodiesel blends. Today, all OEM’s accept 5% biodiesel as it meets ASTM D975 specifications. Cummins, Volvo and Detroit Diesel are among those endorsing B20 in their engines today.

Join the Conversation: Today, engaging your customers in a conversation about the benefits of biodiesel can help you continue educating them long after they’ve left the pump. Consider adding the hashtag #biodiesel to your tweets or join us on Facebook/RenewableEnergyGroup.  Have your customers check out the BioTrucker website, a National Biodiesel Board website designed for over-the-road industry and independent drivers. Watch videos of what other truck drivers are saying about biodiesel.
