Retail sales, excluding automobiles, gasoline and restaurants will rise 3.4 percent to $2.53 trillion in 2012 despite high unemployment and uncertain job growth prospects, the National Retail Federation said. Economists expect Gross Domestic Product will rise between 2.1 percent and 2.4 percent. Retail sales grew 4.7 percent in 2011.
