In his State of the Union address, President Obama touched on several issues important to truckstop and travel plaza operators, including highway funding, alternative fuels and the minimum wage.
During the speech, President Obama renewed a proposal to spend $50 billion for “urgent” infrastructure repairs and called for a "Fix it First" program to encourage public-private partnerships to fund transportation improvements in the country. The president also pledged to do more to “speed the transition to more sustainable sources of energy.”
The president also called on Congress to raise the federal minimum wage to $9 an hour from $7.25.
