The Senate on March 28 voted 95-1 to confirm Nicole Nason as the next Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), a position that has sat vacant since January 2017.

Nason has served as an Assistant Secretary for Administration at the State Department and previously served as Administrator for the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and as an Assistant Secretary at the Department of Transportation. She also worked at Customs and Border Protection and for several congressional committees.

Speaking from the Senate floor, Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) Chairman John Barrasso said his committee approved Nason's nomination nearly two months ago and that, "It shouldn't take this long to confirm such a highly qualified nominee to such an important position."
