NATSO President and CEO Lisa Mullings issued the following statement March 31, 2015, in response to the re-release of the Grow America Act by the Obama Administration:
"We urgently need a long-term, robust funding plan for transportation infrastructure. The Administration's proposed response--tolling and privatizing our nation's highways--is disappointing and irresponsible. Tolls jeopardize public safety as traffic moves onto less safe secondary roads. The traveling public detests tolls on existing interstates, rejecting them in every state that has attempted to implement them. Motorists who already pay for roads when they fill up their gas tanks don't want to pay again on tolled interstates."
