NATSO member Jim Anderson, General Manager for Truck N Travel in Oregon, underscored the essential role that truckstops and travel plazas play in keeping the nation's truck drivers on the road. During a recent on-camera interview with local ABC News affiliate KEZI 9, Anderson said truckstop employees are equally as important as the truck drivers delivering critical supplies. Anderson said truck drivers are grateful for access to locations that are safe, clean and open. Local drivers also expressed appreciation for the services they receive at truckstops.

According to the Oregon Trucking Association, in 2012, 72% of goods transported in the state relied on the trucking industry. So keeping truck drivers taken care of and appreciated is a must, Anderson said, especially during the pandemic.

"These guys are working long, lonely hours and now they're faced with this coronavirus and they're literally on the front lines. Just going in and out of unknown places unsure of how clean it is, how sanitary it is."
