NATSO Foundation Helps Pennsylvania Fight Human Trafficking

More

The NATSO Foundation will join the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association, the Pennsylvania Bus Association and Truckers Against Trafficking March 24 and 26 in sponsoring two coalition meetings in Monroeville and Lancaster aimed at coordinating ways to fight human trafficking within the state.

Truckstops and travel plazas have a critical role to play in reporting suspected incidents of human trafficking along the nation’s Interstate Highway System and are invited to attend these private meetings.

State coalition meetings provide an opportunity to educate members of the business community, transportation and law enforcement about human trafficking as well as serve as an open forum to discuss human trafficking trends in regional areas.

The Monroeville, Pa., event is scheduled to be held March 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Pittsburgh - Monroeville Convention Center (101 Mall Blvd., Monroeville, Pa. 15146).

The Lancaster, Pa., event is scheduled to be held March 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Eden Resort & Suites (222 Eden Rd. Lancaster, Pa. 17601).

Both events are closed to press.

The March 24 and 26 training sessions will feature a Human Trafficking 101 presentation by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office, information on training resources for trucking, bus and truckstop companies, a presentation by a survivor-leader/field trainer and a law enforcement panel.

The law enforcement panel will delve into local trends, share case studies, discuss victim-centered approaches and offer recommendations for industry partners.

The NATSO Foundation is committed to engaging truckstops and travel centers in the fight against human trafficking. Attending regional meetings focused on human trafficking education represents an important component of a multi-faceted anti-human trafficking program.
