The NATSO Foundation is focused on helping truckstops and travel centers’ future proof their operations, and technology is an essential part of today’s retail experience. Technology helps retailers improve efficiency, increase consumer insight, and build loyalty. To deliver the trends analysis the industry needs on technology, Friday, March 10, 2022, at NATSO Connect is dedicated to technology education, including the first ever Travel Center Technology Forum. NATSO Connect, NATSO’s annual convention, is scheduled to be held March 7-10 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in the Dallas area.
“Technology is reinventing the retail experience for shoppers as well as operators, and the NATSO Foundation is bringing a range of tech-related insights to NATSO Connect,” said Amy Toner, executive director of the NATSO Foundation. “Even the most advanced retail technologies are increasingly accessible to businesses of all sizes, and we want to highlight what is available, how it can benefit operators and what it may mean for their future.”
Education at NATSO Connect is provided by the NATSO Foundation, the research, education and public outreach subsidiary of NATSO, Inc.
The day kicks off with the keynote address, “Don’t Get Left Behind: What Innovative Retail Technology Should Embrace Now.” NATSO Foundation Board member Angela Coppler will lead a panel discussion with truckstop and travel center technology leaders, including Jeremie Myhren, co-founder and chief information officer for OnRamp, Gerald Danniel, chief operating officer for Onvo, and Sean Register, owner and managing partner of Port Fuel Center, who will provide an inside look at their technology roadmaps.
Attendees also can take part in the Retail Technology Hosted Table Boxed Lunch event. Interactive share sessions provide an opportunity for truckstops and travel centers and innovative retail companies to share their experiences in a small group setting.
NATSO Connect 2023 will end with a new opportunity—the Travel Center Technology Forum. The forum is designed to facilitate interactive discussion among truckstop and travel center operators about their top technology priorities for improving customer experience and brand loyalty, while driving efficiencies throughout their organizations. The 2023 forum focuses on point-of-sale technology, data competency, and more. This year’s forum will be led by Peter Rasmussen, chief executive officer and founder, Convenience and Energy Advisors, along with Myhren.
In addition to the educational sessions, the expo hall features dedicated sections for vendors specializing in technology and innovation.
New this year, the expo hall includes vendors making advancements in retail technology. “Travel centers are continuously innovating in ways that drive a fast and friendly customer experience,” said Christine Schoessler, Chief Operating Officer for NATSO. "Our members are looking for new and exciting retail technologies that cater to both the travel center operator and their customers. Vendors are seeing the potential for incredibly valuable partnerships with members of our $65 billion industry."
