NATSO Connect Keynote Speaker to Discuss How to Remain Relevant Within a Rapidly Changing Retail Environment

The retail industry has experienced significant change over the past decade, and the pace of change continues to increase. To remain relevant, truckstops and travel centers must create an engaging experience. During NATSO Connect 2020, retail industry expert Patrik Jacob of Koru-Development will dig into how those within the truckstop and travel center industry can benefit from the fundamental transformations taking place in retail. Founded in 2008, Koru-Development is an independent consultancy practice that focuses on development support for mid-sized and family owned companies, predominantly in the convenience and petrol retail business.

Jacob will address the major trends expected to affect the truckstop industry long term, how to survive the decade of disruption in retail, and why the success factors of the past are losing relevance. He also will discuss which customer experience elements are the most critical for success and why truckstop and travel center operators should expect the biggest competition to come from outside of the industry.

“We know that truckstops and travel centers are either benefiting from, coping with or suffering from the ongoing changes in retail, and we want to ensure NATSO members are poised to take advantage of the disruption taking place,” said Amy Toner, vice president of publishing and digital content for NATSO. “Attendees at NATSO Connect will be especially interested in Patrik’s insights into the fundamental change of customer behavior and hidden competition from delivery services, c-stores, and other new offers that are impacting the industry."

The session is one of several during NATSO Connect 2020, scheduled to be held Feb. 6-9, at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. NATSO Connect combines exclusive, executive briefings with opportunities for operators to gain specific guidance on how to succeed by speaking directly with experienced operators and vendor partners.

The event is open to all travel plaza or truckstop owners, operators, managers, buyers and staff who want to increase their industry knowledge, gain business intelligence and buy new products. Registration is now open. Learn more at www.natsoconnect.com. The Opening Keynote tables are sponsored by Bridgestone Commercial Solutions.
