On Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 12:00 p.m. eastern, NATSO is presenting a webinar on fuel buying basics.
Fuel buying may sound simple given that those within the fueling industry only have two choices: branded or unbranded. Yet the reality is that there are layers of complexity within each of those two options, and truckstop and travel plaza operators need to understand the fundamentals to make the right decisions that can improve their bottom line by thousands of dollars monthly.
During the Fuel Buying Basics webinar, Don Quinn, vice president, NATSO Member Services, will review the key considerations operators should examine when weighing branded versus unbranded fuel.
While discussing branded fuel, Quinn will take a deep dive into everything from the average length of a supply agreement, freight rates and pricing. “Pricing takes some understanding, but it is a critical element in fuel purchasing,” he said, adding that NATSO can help members with pricing analysis.
Quinn will also cover the benefits of unbranded fuel, which can include the ability to take advantage of renewable fuel blending opportunities and credit card processing. Unbranded fuel also allows operators to purchase from the lowest price wholesaler or refiner daily, but it also requires time and attention to manage.
