The Biden Administration and congressional Democrats are beginning to pivot to their next legislative priority: infrastructure. The Administration's strategic and substantive thinking is starting to leak out and it is quite ambitious. Democrats remained largely united on the COVID relief bill, but future efforts will inevitably expose internal differences. It is also becoming clear that this infrastructure effort will take at least several months.

NATSO is closely watching the development and structure of incentive and grant programs for alternative fuel, most notably electric vehicle charging infrastructure; we are also keeping an eye on whether tax increase proposals will be included.

Some unanswered questions include what the plan will include beyond traditional infrastructure items, and the degree to which the measure will have bipartisan support and how long it will take to materialize.
