NATSO Announces 2016 Chairman, Board Members Sapp Bros.' Don Quinn Elected as Chairman, NATSO Board of Directors

NATSO, the national trade association representing truckstops and travel plazas, today announced that it has named Don Quinn, president of Sapp Bros. Travel Centers Inc., as its 2016 Chairman of the Board. The announcement was made during the 2016 NATSO Show, currently being held in Orlando, Fla.

“It is a great honor to be elected by my peers to serve the truckstop industry as the Chairman,” said Quinn. “I am excited to represent NATSO and look forward to working with the entire truckstop and travel plaza community as we strive for success.”

Quinn succeeds Tom Heinz as Chairman of the Board. Heinz, President of Coffee Cup Fuel Stops, now serves as Chairman of NATSO’s Steering Council Committee.

NATSO also announced the following members of its 2016 Board of Directors: Tom O’Brien, TravelCenters of America LLC, Secretary/Treasurer; Jenny Love Meyer, Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, Foundation Chair; and Robert Lake, Randall-Reilly Publishing, and Don Paddock, KSG Distributing Inc., Allied Directors. At-Large Directors include: Bob Bolduc, Pride; Charlie Bosselman, Bosselman Travel Center; Gerald Danniel, Liberty Petroleum Distributors; Jim Hays, Dodge City Travel Centers; Jim Miller, Ports to Plains Travel Plaza; Billy Vollenweider, Detroiter Travel Center; and Bob Wollenman, Deluxe Truck Stop. Chain Directors include: Frank Love, Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, and Jimmy Haslam, Pilot Flying J.

Quinn takes the helm of the NATSO Board at a time when the truckstop and travel plaza is evolving to compete and win in the changing energy and retail markets. The industry also is battling aggressive efforts by states to impose tolls on existing interstates and confronting a number of regulatory challenges that could harm business operations, including key labor issues such as overtime eligibility and joint employer status.

During his 30-year career, Quinn has held virtually every position in the truckstop and travel plaza industry. “That has given me a unique perspective and prepared me for the position that I am in today,” Quinn said. “I have been blessed to come to work for a great company, and I have progressed because of the opportunity that was afforded to me.”
