Added on: November 7, 2023
Abstract:
The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure is scheduled to hold a hearing at 2:30 p.m. today to examine the causes of roadway safety challenges and potential interventions. It is expected that Committee members will discuss the Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act introduced earlier this year by Senators Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.). In advance of the hearing, NATSO and a coalition of stakeholders signed a letter expressing support for S. 1034. The Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act would designate federal funds for truck parking and prioritize grant applications that demonstrate partnership with private providers of truck parking. The President and CEO of the Iowa Motor Truck Association is among today's witnesses.
