NATSO, Industry Groups Urge FMCSA to Expand HOS Waiver to Include Fuel Transportation

Added on: April 29, 2021

Abstract:

NATSO along with EMA, NACS and SIGMA urged the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to expand the Hours-of-Service waiver to include the transportation of fuel to help reduce the current strain of the driver shortage on the trucking industry.  Allowing drivers to work more hours will reduce the number of trucks and drivers it takes to move the same amount of freight. Furthermore, the HOS Waiver will prevent consumers from having to pay higher delivery fees as a result of the threat to consistent and fast delivery services because of the countrywide driver shortage.
