NATSO President and CEO Lisa Mullings today announced that Jessica Frend, Government Affairs Advisor of the law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP, will help support the association’s government affairs operation and enhance political engagement among NATSO members.

Under the direction of NATSO Vice President of Government Affairs David Fialkov, Frend will advance the association’s political engagement efforts by bolstering grassroots initiatives and executing NATSO’s member involvement programs, including Washington fly-ins. Frend also will help orchestrate Congressional visits between NATSO members and their elected officials at travel plazas and truckstops nationwide under an initiative launched by NATSO earlier this year.

As a Government Affairs Advisor at Steptoe, Frend has worked with a variety of clients to develop and implement advocacy and political engagement plans, advised on legislative developments, briefed clients in preparation for congressional meetings and hearings, and advocated on behalf of clients.  In addition to her legislative guidance, she focuses on the organization and coordination of client Capitol Hill visits for several trade associations and corporate clients. Frend has worked for many years with the motor fuel wholesale and retail industries on legislative, regulatory and political issues.

Prior to joining Steptoe in 2007, Jessi served as legislative staff for Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio). She received her B.A. in Political Science from Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.
