With the start of hurricane season upon us, NATSO members are encouraged to take precautionary steps to prevent severe weather from damaging underground storage tanks (USTs).
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provides the following resources to members of the UST community to help UST owners and operators prepare for, prevent or lessen catastrophic effects and environmental harm from natural disasters.
These resources also can also be helpful to federal, state and tribal UST programs in thinking about what to do when preparing for a storm, and how to ensure safe return to operation after a storm.
Flooding and severe weather can wreak havoc on USTs. So even if these resources aren't new to you, now is a great time for a refresher.
