BP has recalled more than 2 million gallons of gasoline in the Midwest after fuel shipped between Aug. 13 and 17 to stations in Indiana, Wisconsin and Illinois contained a higher level of residue, which clogs the fuel system and prevents engines from starting.

Retailers who receive complaints should direct affected motorists to call BP's customer hotline at 800-333-3991. Gas claims may also be filed at bpconsum@bp.com. The company also has set up a website to answer questions at bpresponse.com.
