The American Petroleum Institute is urging truckstop and travel plaza operators to offer feedback as the organization begins the revision process for the Recommended Practice 1646, Safe Work Practices for Contractors Working at Retail/Convenience Facilities. API said this recommended practice provides an awareness of safety issues associated with maintenance and construction work at retail petroleum/convenience facilities. The document serves as the basis for the API WorkSafe Program that has certified 11,500 people to work safely at retail stations.

API is inviting those interested in or affected by the publication or the API WorkSafe Program to join a revision team. Most, if not all, work will be via phone and web conference, API said.
