Domestic Study Tour

September 14 - 15, 2016 the NATSO Foundation is taking truckstop operators to Lexington, Va. to tour best in class truckstops. 

The study tour provides NATSO members with an opportunity to tour retail locations and network with truckstop and travel plaza operators. Through this exchange, NATSO members will return with ideas to improve the performance of their businesses.

Attendees will tour Fairfield BP, Lee Hi Travel Plaza and White's Travel Plaza near Lexington, Virginia.

Hotel

Tour Lee Hi Travel Plaza and Fairfield BP

7:30 a.m. Meet for breakfast and overview
Where: Ballroom on first floor of the hotel

  • Breakfast
  • Overview of Lee Hi Travel Plaza and Fairfield BP
  • Background on the beautiful Shenandoah Valley area

Bus departs at 9:00 a.m.
Along the route a docent will provide history on some of the historical landmarks in the area

Lee Hi Travel Plaza, Lexington, VA

  • Presentation of best practices and performance indicators from Lee Hi Travel Plaza
  • Group sit-down lunch
  • Guided location tour
  • Lessons learned from tour
  • Presentation on Park My Truck App

Drive by bus to Fairfield BP 

Fairfield BP, Fairfield, VA

  • Presentation of best practices and performance indicators from Fairfield BP
  • Guided location tour
  • Lessons learned from tour

Return by bus to the hotel by 5:30 p.m.

Private study tour group dinner at Southern Inn Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. We will walk across the street from the hotel to a locally owned restaurant for drinks and dinner.

Optional evening drive by White's Travel Plaza. The bus will not stop.

Airports
Lexington is approximately one hour's drive from the nearest airport located in Roanoke (ROA). Charlottesville (CHO) is one hour and 15 minutes away. Richmond (RIC) is two hours' drive. Reagan (DCA) at the 3 hour point and Dulles (IAD) is approximately 3.5 hours to the north.
