Daily Truckstop Checklist: The Morning Routine

The start of a new day can be hectic, but this list will help you keep it simple. You don’t need to check something just for the sake of checking it, but here are five key areas to check each morning:

  1. As you are driving to work, look at the signs, the lights and billboards to make sure they represent your brand well.

  2. Walk the lot and check the outside. Inspect the pumps and make sure everything is working. Make sure there is no trash and that vehicles aren’t parked in the wrong area.

  3. Come into the location and say hello to all your employees. Ask them how they are doing and touch base. Ask them if something noteworthy happened during their shift.

  4. Walk the inside. Is the coffee fresh? Is the restroom clean? Are the grab-n-go items prepared and out?

  5. Review department and employee checklists with the staff. What were the employees of the previous shift supposed to do and did they do it? Address the issues good and bad.
