After consolidating the state's traffic operation centers next month, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) plans to conduct a truck parking pilot project designed to direct truck drivers to open parking spaces in real-time via message signs along Interstate-95. The project could be launched by the end of the year, according to Transport Topics. The initial parking pilot program would focus on one location, at the Ladysmith rest area at mile marker 107 on Interstate 95.
