- North American truck production in 2013 is on course to meet last year's numbers but will spike about 15 percent in 2014 on stronger economic growth, ACT Research President Kenny Vieth predicted at the Mid-America Trucking Show. Growth in housing, manufacturing and consumer spending will take time to translate into truck production, he said.
- Buoyed by booming shale plays in North Dakota and Texas, U.S. oil production will be 2 million barrels a day higher than imports by the end of 2014, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration's Short-Term Energy Outlook.
