The Institute for Supply Management, which measures manufacturing components of the economy, said its monthly factory index rose to 53.4, from 52.4 in February. Figures over 50 indicate expansion. February marks the index’s 31st consecutive month of expansion. Manufacturing represents the trucking industry's largest customer.
