Solid manufacturing output in December coupled with inventory restocking pushed the American Trucking Associations' (ATA) seasonally adjusted truck tonnage up 6.8 percent in December. Tonnage jumped 5.9 percent in 2011 compared with 2010, marking the largest annual increase since 1998. December's tonnage was 10.5 percent higher than the same month a year earlier.
