The Iowa 80/CAT Scale Go Iowa Fund Grant Program awarded a series of grants to local causes on June 17, 2014.

The program offers employees and others the opportunity to identify organizations that they feel are worthy of financial contributions. Iowa 80 Truckstop and CAT Scale Company established the fund through the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend (CFGRB).

"We want our employees to be empowered in helping us decide how we should support our community", says Delia Moon Meier, senior vice president. "This grant program does just that. We are proud to be able to help organizations that our employees are passionate about."

Recipients in June included:

  • Trucker Buddy International for $1,500;
  • Durant Community Schools Foundation for $1,434;
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for $1,000;
  • Walcott American Legion Post for $1,000;
  • Hand in Hand for $750;
  • Café on Vine for $616; and
  • Genesis Foundation for $600.

The Iowa 80/CAT Scale Go Iowa Fund can only make grants that benefit Iowa based charities, Iowa activities or to organizations that have a presence in Iowa.

Grants are awarded twice per year by a committee of Iowa 80 Truckstop and CAT Scale employees. Learn more about the Iowa 80/CAT Scale Go Iowa Fund and in the Stop Watch magazine article Truckstop and Travel Plaza Operators Give Back.
