For many industry suppliers, business travel is a way of life. Learning to make the most of travel not only increases business opportunities, it can also increase overall happiness. Improve your travel experiences with these seven tips.

Create Rituals: Establishing rituals can create a sense of comfort that moves along with you. Whether it is traveling with your favorite pillow or slipping on a certain pair of shoes once in the air, routines provide a sense of control and comfort.

Plan for Contingencies: The most predictable thing about travel is its unpredictability, so planning for contingencies can increase productivity while also improving comfort.

Establish Back Up for Electronics: Staying connected is crucial for business travelers, but you’re never guaranteed an outlet. Carry extra batteries or battery powered chargers so you never have to worry about a low-battery warning. You can also consider getting a long-battery-life laptop and an extended battery.

Keep Essentials Packed: Creating a grab-and-go kit for toiletries or technology items can minimize stress from last-minute packing.

Establish Back Up for Key Documents: There may be times when even the most plugged-in traveler can’t access documents electronically. Keep a back-up list of key contacts and travel documents.

Embrace Your Time Zone: To get yourself in the right mind set, change your watch as soon as you take off. Syncing up to your new time zone as soon as you can will help you get the best sleep. Alternatively, some travelers try to stay in their normal time zone rather than switching back and forth. If you take that approach, prepare to either wake earlier or stay up later than others in your new time zone.

Make Time to Recharge: Constant travel is demanding. Whether it is taking an hour to exercise or making an hour to visit a museum while on the road, pencil in time to relax and recharge. Visits are one of the best opportunities for industry suppliers to build relationships and secure sales with truckstop and travel plaza operators. But for a sales visit to be effective, it has to meet the needs of all involved.
