NATSO and a group of associations representing the nation's fuel retailers are urging Congress to act quickly on a tax extenders package, with particular support for a retroactive extension of the $1-per-gallon biodiesel tax credit.

In a letter sent Nov. 13 to House and Senate Leadership, the organizations said the biodiesel blender's tax credit makes biodiesel more cost-competitive with petroleum diesel, while strengthening energy security by diversifying the nation's sources of fuel.

Signatories included NATSO, the Petroleum Marketers Association of America, the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America, and the National Association of Convenience Stores.

In a separate letter, NATSO also joined the natural gas industry in expressing support for alternative fuel tax credit extensions as well as modifications to the LNG-diesel excise tax and the alternative fuel tax credit.

Congress is expected to address the tax extenders before the end of this year.
