NATSO Check-Link – Enhancements
NATSO is excited to offer an
enhanced Check-LinkTM service that
increases the validity of the check process, increases the speed of
collection and works on the collection of any NSF checks in a more
efficient manner, AND shares recovered bad check fees revenue!
As the most frequently used
business service available to our members, Check-Link allows truckstops
the ability to instantly research the check-writing capabilities of
previously screened professional drivers.
Enhanced features include:
- NATSO receives communication
from SCAN database, (a national database of negative check-writers),
thus looking beyond the truckstop industry for potential positive or
negative check information.
- Daily electronic updates on
driver check-writing history sent to NATSO – which leads to
quicker confirmation if a driver is writing multiple bad checks (NSF,
forged, stolen, account closed, etc).
- NSF state penalty fees are
eliminated to the truckstop; saving hundreds of dollars per month, per
location.
- Multiple representments of NSF
checks, until funds are collected, causing a shortened recovery cycle
and high return rate for checks returned NSF.
- Use of a legal recovery
process through an attorney, at no additional charge, if NSF checks are
not recovered within 30 days.
- Web-based
reporting and historical information is available for both the
truckstop locations and the drivers. Through a simple login, other
information can be updated as well, such as Site ID updates, driver
searches, usage reports, and many others.
- Through the Web site and new
application process for drivers, NATSO is also able to capture
various demographic information to better understand and serve the
driver.
- The ability to verify checks online.
- Decrease in time to accurately approve a new driver application with
Web-based application (maximum 24-48 hour wait to receive an acceptance
or denial).
On October 31, NATSO sent a packet of information detailing all of
these great new enhancements to current subscribing Check-Link member
locations. The packet items include:
- Enhanced NATSO Check-Link Overview - This
document is an overview of what the technical changes are and how they
will affect you.
- Web Instructions –
Directions for how to access a Check-Link™ account
online.
- Point-of-Sale Instructions – These are instructions for verifying checks through a
point of sale system. This process has NOT changed.
- How to Verify Checks Online – These are
instructions on how to verify a check online rather than through the
point-of-sale system.
- Check-Link™ Sticker – Post this at the fuel desk so that professional
drivers know they can write checks at the location.
- Returned Check Policy sticker and FAQs
– Please post the sticker at the
point-of-sale to ensure that the customer understands the check
acceptance policy. Please use the tear-off receipts at your
point-of-sale to give to customers. These explain the check
recovery procedure and give our toll-free number for questions.
