I-80 Tolling Decision Could
Come This Week – Still Time to Act! While the application only applies to one state, its approval will set a dangerous precedent for other states to attempt similar tolling schemes. The PTC, along with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), submitted its third application to DOT in late October. Under the proposal, the PTC would assume responsibility for operating and maintaining I-80, paying annual lease payments to PennDOT. To recover the costs of the lease payments, the PTC would install tolls on the interstate. A large percentage of the money paid to PennDOT would be diverted away from I-80, however, to fund transit projects in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Click here to read NATSO’s latest Action Alert. The alert requests you call the Department of Transportation at (202) 366-4570 and make your voice heard. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
