NATSO Attends Georgia Idle Reduction Stakeholders’ Meeting NATSO had submitted written comments in advance of the meeting, identifying its major concern as the agency’s proposal for holding landowners liable for violations of the proposed idle reduction rule. According to EPD, this was one of the most common concerns of organizations participating in the stakeholder process, and one it will fully address in a future stakeholder meeting. As it is currently written, the proposed regulation will limit idling to five minutes and will use landowners as the primary enforcement agents. Members of EPD emphasized the importance of fostering cooperation between landowners and EPD agents, and explained that the intention of the rule is not to burden landowners. NATSO will continue to follow this issue and work to ensure truckstop and travel plazas owners and employees are not unduly burdened by this regulation. |
